"Please forgive me for writing in English but my university German has long since disappeared. I am an American residing in Tokyo and I have for many years had an enameled metal plaque 'Zur Förderung der öffentlichen Gesundheitspflege wird dringend ersucht, nicht in den Wagen zu spucken'. I was told that it came from a German WWI troop transport train but now it seems it was from a Berlin streetcar. In what years would it have been used?"
Unsere Antwort am 17.7.2013:
"You are right, the plaque was used in the Berlin streetcars in the beginning 20th century. My photo you found in the internet shows the streetcar Nr. 2082 of the "Große Berliner Straßenbahn" in 1901. I hereby send you 2 more photos of the tram."

"Thank you very much. It is nice after all these years to have a picture of where my little plaque comes from. "
